Cascabel Sauce

The sauce originated from a family recipe and is based on the unique flavors of the cascabel chili. Cascabel, Spanish for little rattle, derives it's name from the sound of the seeds in the dried chili. This Cascabel has a medium heat and a very complex flavor including hints of wood, smoke and nuts. This sauce is quick and easy to add to enchiladas or add to browned beef and simmer for a hearty chili. You can also make your own barbecue sauce by adding ketchup and vinegar.
